Real Madrid are refusing to give up on their pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo, with club president Ramon Calderon determined to lure him to the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo’s future has been dominating the headlines all summer as the midfielder has continually refused to rule out a move away from Old Trafford.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Ronaldo off making a move to Madrid saying it would be a mistake and now Gill says United have told the Spanish side they have no plans to sell the skilful attacker.
He told Sky Sports News: “We made it clear to them [Real Madrid] from day one we wouldn’t welcome a bid, it wouldn’t be accepted and therefore I don’t think there is not much point in putting one in.
“That’s where we are at with the situation.
“Obviously there has been lots of paper talk and a lot of coverage in the media about it and we understand that.
“But the reality of it is we have been very firm from day one.”

Sir Alex Ferguson expects to prise striker Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham by the end of the summer.
Reports have suggested the Manchester United boss has made a £22m bid for the 27-year-old but that Spurs want more.
Ferguson was quoted in The Sun saying: “We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov and we have good expectations that this deal will go through.
“Berbatov has been impressive for a long time and he would be a great addition to our attack.”
Barcelona have also shown an interest in the Bulgarian following the exit of Ronaldinho to AC Milan and with Samuel Eto’o also set to leave but Ferguson is happy to bide his time over a player who scored 23 goals for Tottenham last season.
Speaking at the start of the club’s pre-season tour of South Africa, the Scot said: “I think time will work for us more than against us.
“We will not stress this situation. We are hoping to have a constructive conversation with Tottenham in the near future.”
Manchester United owners The Glazers have rejected reports from Spain that they have agreed to open talk with Real Madrid to sell Cristiano Ronaldo.
Spanish journal Marca has inspired the story of selling Ronaldo from the start and was again in playful mode insisting that sources close to the Reds’ American owners said they “have agreed to the operation” and discussions could be started with Real Madrid next week, but a spokesman for the Glazers said at M.E.N. Sport: “It is absolute nonsense. The family completely maintains their original stance and that is that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale. Read the full story
