Goals from Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov secured a victory for Manchester United against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Sir Alex’s side found themselves behind by one goal in the 9th minutes when Newcastle took a shock lead after Van der Sar fumbled Gutierrez’s shot from long distance to find Peter Lovenkrands who put it home to give Newcastle the lead.
After 10 minutes, Rooney continued his great scoring record against Newcastle with a professional turn after Park Ji-Sung and John O’shea one-two and made a first time shot inside the box to beat Steve Harper and made the score level.
In the second half, Fergie gave instruction to put more pressure on Newcastle. It took 11 minutes to see Man United scoring their second goal. An awful mistake from Newcastle’ defender Steven Taylor as he tried to chest the ball back to Harper who slipped the ball to find Park who sent to ball to Berbatov to score an easy goal and gave United a 2-1 lead.
Manchester United are now ten points away from their title chasers Liverpool and Chelsea. This increases their chance to keep the Premier League trophy in the Old Trafford for the third year in row.
