United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has returned from his holiday in the south of France with a whole lot of transfer activity ahead of him. The United chief has a reported £100 million to spend this summer. He wouldn’t of expected to have to replace two big stars such as Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo, but that’s his challenge this summer.
Players such as French winger Franck Ribery and international colleague Karim Benzema are targets, but Bayern and Lyon respectively have said that their star attractions are likely to stay put this summer. Bayern have also indicated that they want to build a team around the wing wizard.
A more likely target for Fergie is Wigan winger Antonio Valencia, who Wigan have already admitted could be sold at the right price. A deal in the region of £18million is likely to be concluded in the next week and the Ecuadorean is likely to take place Ronaldo’s place on the right flank of the United team. Ronaldo’s departure could mean a switch to a more conventional two upfront next season, depending on the players that Sir Alex can secure.
