Rio is nearly ready to rumble for United

You have to hand it to good old  ‘arry. The Tottenham Hotspur manager went to a lot of trouble in his vain attempt to lure England captain Rio Ferdinand away from Old Trafford but as was to be expected, Sir Alex Ferguson soon told Harry Redknapp were to go. The Spurs medical department was even instructed to study the nature of Ferdinand’s injuries and were convinced that they could get 100 games out of him over the next two seasons.

“The more things change the more they remain the same” is a saying which has been around since Adam was a boy. I have no idea where it originally came from but it’s difficult to argue against the truth in it. Jesper Olsen – From Manchester to Melbourne

The memories of a seven year old child normally last a lifetime as  Manchester United supporter Jonathan Howcroft can testify after meeting one of his childhood heroes thousands of miles away from home. Denmark international Jesper Olsen spent four years from 1984 at United winning an FA Cup in his first season, before settling in Melbourne with his family following a serious injury which forced his retirement in 1992.

Toshack unmoved by calls for a Giggs comeback

If wishful thinking ever had a chance of coming true, Wales will recall Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs to play for his country in the qualifying matches for Euro 2012. It’s a huge call after the Welsh wizard announced his retirement from international football in 2007 but that reality has not stopped people like former Wales boss Terry Yorath saying that “The first available chance that John Toshak has he should be on the phone to Ryan and get him back into Welsh football.”
