Scholes has no intention of quitting the new Trinity

It’s a record that is never likely to be broken. The Manchester United trio of Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes have made over 2100 senior appearances between them in a total of 57 years, winning  74 medals, ALL under manager Sir Alex Ferguson – and it’s not over yet with both Giggs and Scholes announcing that they will continue for at least one more season. The statue of sixties legends Law, Best and Charlton has become known as the Holy Trinity and is one of the most famous landmarks at Old Trafford. Can there be any doubt that it’s only a matter of time before a Trinity statue Mark 2 will be erected next to the original one?

Football has changed dramatically since these legends made their  debuts. The one certainty is that the mould has been well and truly broken because no club will ever see their likes again.

Would you like to see another Trinity statue erected at Old Trafford?

Why not…let’s talk in the language of stats

    Total appearances for Man United-404
Number of titles for the club-2 League Titles(1964,1966), 1 FA Cup(1962)
*(Law was a Manchester United player when the team won the European Cup in 1968, but he missed the match through injury).

Now if we look closely…these 3 Legends together played (excluding their personal appearances for the club)…9 years…in between they won 2 League Titles, 1 FA Cup, 1 European Cup and 2 Charity Shields
together they produced mind-boggling football… freaking…the best in Europe!!

Now when we talk about Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville…when these 3 came United were struggling…Sir Alex was having a bad time…these 3 actually changed the face of football not only only in England but also in the entire Europe!!!…more importantly these 3 along with the likes of Eric, Paul ince, David Beckham, Oleg and many many more took United to new heights!!!!

    Ryan Giggs
Total seasons at Man United-20 (1991-HE’S STILL GOING…;)…he’ll complete his 20 years in March this season)
Total appearance for Man United-862(and HE’S STILL GOING)
Number of titles for the club-11 LEAGUE TITLES,4 FA CUPS,4 LEAGUE CUPS,8 CHARITY SHIELDS,2 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE,1 UEFA SUPER CUP,1 INTERCONTINENTAL CUP, 1 FIFA CWC….32 TITLES IN ALL!!!

    PAUL SCHOLES
Total seasons in Man United-16 (1994-HE’S STILL GOING)
    Total appearance for Man United-664
Number of titles for the club-9 LEAGUE TITLES,3 FA CUPS,2 LEAGUE CUPS,5 CHARITY SHIELDS,2 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE,1 INTERCONTINENTAL CUP, 1 FIFA CWC….23 TITLES IN ALL!!!(HE MISSED 2007 COMMUNITY SHIELD THROUGH INJURY)

    GARY NEVILLE
Total seasons in Man United-19 (1992-93 TO 2010-11)
    Total appearance for Man United-602
Number of titles for the club-8 LEAGUE TITLES,3 FA CUPS,2 LEAGUE CUPS,3 CHARITY SHIELDS,1 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE,1 INTERCONTINENTAL CUP, 1 FIFA CWC….19 TITLES IN ALL!!!.

Now if we look closely at Scholes, Giggs and Neville…we’ll realize that they played longer with each other than the original trinity…they won more and marked the true meaning of the word loyalty…loyalty is their biggest achievement….that’s why these 3 (especially Giggsn) are the most respected footballers on this planet)

So my say…put a holy trinity statue of these…they deserve it…put it alongside Law, Best and Charlton…show the world that they are and will always be Manchester United’s gems!!…Proud to be a red devil!!!

@Manu92, my perfect Holy Trinity Mark 2 statue will be made up of Giggs waving his shirt after THAT 1999 FA Cup semi final goal against Arsenal, Neville kissing the badge at Anfield and Scholes? It can be anyone of a dozen but how about the last minute winner at Manchester City last season?

  4. Manu92 says:

Agree on Giggs and Neville mate…as far as Scholes best moment is concerned…his goal against city last year was simply amazing..considering the situation of the league at that moment…but my favorite memory of paul is his 25 yards cracker against Barcelona in 2008…that moment…just spectacular…exactly 50 years on from the Munich disaster, it was his moment of brilliance that took us into the European final…the scenes at old trafford that night were amazing…!!!!…the world will never see the likes of giggs, scholes and neville ever again!!!

  5. ross kenny says:

the new statue should be a duo, fergie and giggs, those 2 eclipse everyone (Stats above) scholes wouldnt want a statue & publicity and a statue of neville would only be a target for vandals. that is all

  6. Frank Scicluna says:

Fair comment Manu92, that was a special goal from Scholes. As I said, there are any number that can be used for him.
