Manchester United stayed in the third position behind Liverpool and Chelsea after beating Sunderland with a last minute goal scored by United defender Vidic.

Carrick’s shot was deflected to wrong foot Fulop. It striked the post but dribbles into Vidic’s path, and the United defender pumps it into the empty net with his left foot.

Manchester United knocked out Blackburn Rovers in the quarter-final of the Carling Cup. Carlos Tevez proved that he deserves a parement contract with Man United as he detroyed Paul Robinson with hat-trick. Tevez tried to score another, but replays suggest Aaron Mokoena scored an own-goal, while Nani was also on target. Benni McCarthy (two) and Matt Derbyshire scored for Rovers.
