A comment made by Liverpool veteran Jamie Carragher prior to his testimonial on Saturday confirmed once and for all what thousands of Scousers have been stubbornly denying for years. While stating that he would love to interview Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson more than anyone else in football, Carra has been quoted as saying “If I was in his company, I would also tell him, first off, that Manchester United never knocked Liverpool off their ******* perch, as he put it. That’s just nonsense. Graeme Souness did that.”

“No club like United” and then he signs for Spurs

When footballers are quoted in newspapers these days you have to wonder if they are talking through the mouths of smooth talking agents. Netherlands midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has joined Tottenham Hotspur just two weeks after claiming it would be a step down to play for any Premier League club except Manchester United. It begs the question of whether he was being genuine or if was he just giving a ‘come on’ from his agent in a desperate attempt to attract an offer from manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Career still in doubt as Hargreaves makes the cut

The much anticipated new 25 player squad rule which came into being at 5pm on Tuesday has been little more than a non event as far as Manchester United were concerned. As the club reported on its official website “All United players, barring those currently out on loan, are eligible to play for the Reds in the Premier League this season. United’s Champions League squad has also been submitted to UEFA, European football’s governing body and now has to be verified before being confirmed.”

This Ferguson signing will be a Bolt out of the blue

If he had his way, the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt will be playing Premier League football for Manchester United but Sir Alex Ferguson is unlikely to take up the offer. The New York Post reports that the Olympic gold medalist has trained with German giants Bayern Munich earlier this month and was praised by the club for his soccer skills but United are his preferred choice.
