Can’t wait till Saturday, bring on Liverpool!

As the build up continues and gathers pace for the big game this Saturday against our hated arch-rivals, Liverpool, the team we love to hate and that too with a passion wherever you are in the globe, let’s take a glimpse back in the not so distant past; to last Sunday to be precise. Hoodoo of Craven Cottage

Two wins out of two, six goals scored and only one conceded post the black, dark and gloomy night of Basel. The first performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers was very good as we banged in 4 goals, breaking out of the 1 goal trend of the matches prior to that. However, the lunchtime kickoff against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road was slated to be a tougher match for the Red Devils and we came through it with a much-needed clean sheet and dominating performance in the final third with the abundance of chances created. The United fans who were closer to the field really added to the atmosphere and it is always nice to see the fans having a blast. Pre-game my thoughts drifted back to the meetings of the 90s when most often than not, United had to slog it out for a win there. We were made to work hard this time too but perhaps not as hard as an uncharacteristic solo run and shot by Michael Carrick finished off the encounter. QPR couldn’t manage a goal to test our nerves at the end so we saw the match out and picked up 3 points smilingly. Read the full story

Easy December for United

The race for honours in the latter half of this season will take a decisive turn in the month of December as Manchester United look to put a few shaky weeks behind them.

Before heading to Liverpool, United We Stand!

We are the start of the week and the countdown towards the big game against Liverpool on Saturday at Anfield begins. The countdown began for some after the game against Norwich, ignoring the international fixtures of Friday and Tuesday which for some or most is viewed as a deterrence or hindrance and would be more interested in the affairs of their favourite clubs.

As players leave for international duty from the red sides of Manchester and Liverpool, fans from both sides would be praying, wishing and hoping that when the players return from all corners of the world, they would be hale and hearty with only fatigue for the respective managers to deal with. Without doubt, this is the BIGGEST fixture for Liverpool fans as they look to put one over their hated rivals who have been more successful in recent times but that is not to say that Manchester United fans view it with any less significance. We’ve not had great memories of our recent trips to Liverpool. We have been beaten quite comfortably in our last 3 matches there and played poorly. Although we hold the upper hand in recent times of our encounters at Old Trafford, any United fan would want United to beat Liverpool anywhere and everywhere and any time of the year or season. Did Nasri become a whore by snubbing United?

Let’s call a spade a spade, maybe all footballers are prostitutes! Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp was prepared to reveal that Samir Nasri could have – and wanted to – join Manchester United but instead went to City for the money! The always blunt Redknapp was quoted on Saturdays SportingReview.com as saying that “Nasri could have gone to United. They wanted him and he wanted to go to Old Trafford. But then City came in and offered him more money so he went to them instead. United are still the biggest team in England. City haven’t got the tradition of United, Arsenal or Liverpool.”

Sir Alex says Wenger must get a fair go

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Darren Fletcher is ready to make a return to senior duties and will be considered for Sunday’s squad to face Arsenal. The Scottish midfielder emerged unscathed from Thursday evening’s Reserves victory over Swansea and the manager told his pre match press conference that Fletcher is ready for his first senior outing of the season.

Ferguson also leapt to the defence of the Gunners embattled manager Arsene Wenger “The work he has done in the 15 years he has been at the club is the best in Arsenal’s history” he pointed out “Yes, he has not won a trophy for six years but what does that mean? The quality of his side has not been reduced so it’s a bit unfair” He then slammed the critics by saying “but who understands fairness and unfairness these days? Supporters are far less easy to please than they were 20 years ago”
