Career still in doubt as Hargreaves makes the cut

The much anticipated new 25 player squad rule which came into being at 5pm on Tuesday has been little more than a non event as far as Manchester United were concerned. As the club reported on its official website “All United players, barring those currently out on loan, are eligible to play for the Reds in the Premier League this season. United’s Champions League squad has also been submitted to UEFA, European football’s governing body and now has to be verified before being confirmed.”

Arrogance not required on United’s American tour

Hey, want to hear the one about the pot calling the kettle black? An American journalist by the name of Brian Strauss, Senior Soccer Writer no less, covering the Manchester United tour in Philadelphia for AOL website FanHouse, spat the dummy in one of his reports this week accusing United players and English journalists of being arrogant! Former Manchester United and England skipper Bryan Robson predicts that Wayne Rooney will put his World Cup disappointment behind him and increase the 34 goal haul he grabbed for the club last season. Scottish midfielder Darren Fletcher cannot disguise the disappointment he experienced with Manchester United last season. Failing to win a fourth successive Premiership title by the narrowest of margins was a bitter pill for him to swallow so he cannot wait for the new campaign to kick off because he fully expects matters to be put right come next May.
