United gives Michael Owen what Liverpool couldn't


Two seasons at Old Trafford has given Michael Owen what Liverpool couldn’t provide in thirteen years at Anfield – a precious Premiership winning medal which has so far been denied to former team mates Steve Gerrard and Jamie Carragher after an entire career on Merseyside. Owen signed on for Liverpool at the age of 16 and remained there until his controversial departure in 2004. He had been Liverpool’s top scorer every season until leaving for La Liga when Real Madrid agreed an £8m fee.

Liverpool sponsor sends a warning to United


Here’s a warning to Manchester United for whenever a new major sponsor comes on board in the years ahead. It’s contained in a report which appeared in The Independent – widely regarded as one of the most reliable newspapers in Britain, clearly stating how easily the tail can end up wagging the dog. Global bank Standard Chartered is the shirt sponsor of Liverpool Football Club until at least the end of the 2013-14 campaign to the tune of £20m a season. That’s one hell of a lot of money to rely upon but there’s nothing unusual in it. Most major football clubs have no choice but to operate like that these days, so what’s so disturbing about it?

Sir Alex warns rivals ‘United will NEVER surrender’


The boss is fighting mad, his Manchester United side is facing a backs to the wall fight to regain the title. And nobody does siege mentality better than the Sir Alex Ferguson. It doesn’t matter who has upset him, whether it be the authorities, the media, fans, referees or fellow managers, when it comes to the crunch and United are under threat, the blockade is put in place. Former United defender Gary Pallister played under Sir Alex for 9 years winning four titles and three FA Cups. He told M.E.N’s Stuart Mathieson “I saw it for the first time in 1990”

Let’s be ‘FAIR’ and present what journalist Mick Dennis wrote in the rag during the last 48 hours. “Sir Alex Ferguson, the greatest manager of the modern era, has made himself a laughing stock. The Manchester United boss has turned into a cross between Harry Enfield’s Kevin the teenager complaining that everything is so unfair and Kenneth Williams wailing “Infamy, infamy…they’ve all got it in for me.”
