If he had his way, the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt will be playing Premier League football for Manchester United but Sir Alex Ferguson is unlikely to take up the offer. The New York Post reports that the Olympic gold medalist has trained with German giants Bayern Munich earlier this month and was praised by the club for his soccer skills but United are his preferred choice.

While many Manchester United fans would love nothing better than to secure a 19th Premier League title at the end of the upcoming season in order to break the record shared with bitter rivals Liverpool, manager Sir Alex Ferguson concedes that his main objective is to obtain a fourth European Champions League saying that “For me, during the history of this club, the European Cup is a big attraction. That must be a priority.”

Perhaps the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson has been hesitant to sign World Cup star Mesut Ozil from Werder Bremen should not be altogether surprising. The midfielder appears capable of ticking every one of the required boxes – except one. You see, the 21 year old is German and Ferguson has NEVER, ever signed a German player in all his years at Old Trafford.

A close look at the still developing career of Manchester United goal scoring sensation Wayne Rooney suggests that he may be well advised to forget the riches which could be awaiting him from the likes of Real Madrid and stick to the green, green grass of home. A 22 man Manchester United squad flies out to Chicago on Monday to kick off the pre season tour of North America with new signing Javier Hernandez joining the team in Houston later in the month. The more interesting aspect however is the number of names missing from the touring party because of injuries. Club captain Gary Neville is the latest withdrawal having been ruled out with a small tear to his calf muscle.
