Milner and Rodwell may be on United’s hit list


Well publicized comments coming out of America from United Chief Executive David Gill and manager Sir Alex Ferguson claim that both were insisting there may only be one more signing for the new season with the team mainly relying on the talent developed during the last few years. Reports have now surfaced however that United made an unsuccessful bid for Valencia striker David Villa in the last 24 hours, are pursuing Jack Rodwell from Everton and are ready to go head to head with Manchester City for Aston Villa’s James Milner.

It’s now squeaky bum time for United fans


When Manchester United, not unexpectedly, failed to retain a title which had been held for three successive seasons, the common expectation was that the time had finally come for Sir Alex Ferguson to blow the cobwebs off his cheque book and start spending much of the £80 that had been stashed away from the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid this time last year. Chief executive David Gill had after all repeatedly assured everyone that the cash was available for his manager to strengthen the squad in any way he saw fit.

Strikers to join Manchester United next season

United activity in the transfer market for next season is limited. While other clubs finalize strengthen their squad, Sir Alex Ferguson says that who only need one or two players to be added to the squad that won the champions league in Moscow 49 days ago. Red Devils have 38 days to the start of the campaign and 53 until the summer transfer window closes. Time is not running out, but even with two impressive major trophies doing the rounds at Red functions, Manchester fans are eager to see a new import.

Now, with a bigger and better squad already in place this time around, a whole band of newcomers is no longer an urgent requirement. “I wouldn’t think we will buy any more than one player,” Sir Alex has said. “We are looking at one or two things. People think it is easy to buy players nowadays, but it isn’t. Money plays a big part and clubs with ambition don’t want to sell their best players, so it is not as easy as you think.”
