A ‘Phantom’ interview with Sir Alex Ferguson


Some of the most senior football journalists find it almost impossible to obtain an interview with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson so what chance does a humble blog writer has? The only alternative therefore is to have what might be called a ‘phantom’ interview and try guessing what responses are likely to be given. Is putting words into Ferguson’s mouth a little presumptuous? Of course it is but not a lot of harm can be done as long as it’s not taken too seriously.

Bryan Robson expects Rooney to prove a point


Former Manchester United and England skipper Bryan Robson predicts that Wayne Rooney will put his World Cup disappointment behind him and increase the 34 goal haul he grabbed for the club last season. Rooney was pipped for the Premier League’s leading goalscorer title by Chelsea’s Didier Drogba after an ankle injury towards the end of the campaign kept him out of action for a number of matches.

The season was better than critics rate it for United


Yes, other clubs have managed to win the Premier League apart from Manchester United even though with 11 titles out of 18 going to Old Trafford, people can be forgiven for having formed the wrong impression. It may be the reason why cries of doom and gloom are so loud whenever the championship ends up elsewhere as it did this season.
