July 21, 2011 – There are more Manchester United stories in the media than any other club – some are worth reading, others are absolute garbage! How can anyone possibly keep up with them all? Truly Reds does it’s best to bring you the latest news but there’s only so much that can be covered on a daily basis. One alternative is to collate the stories which cannot be updated daily so that they can at least be brought to your attention each Thursday of every week

Transfer rumours are a dime a dozen. Very few have genuine substance so they should always be taken with a huge amount of cynicism. Yet they cannot be completely ignored in case there’s the slightest grain of truth in them. Some media outlets are obviously more reliable than others so Truly Reds is prepared to report the gossip and give a rating of 1 to 5 as to how believable it’s likely be. A rating of 1 can almost certainly be dismissed out of hand while a 5 may give the story some creedance. Have a look at the latest sports news and transfers being reported but be warned – only believe what you want.

If he said it once, he said it a million times over the years. The motto for Sir Alex Ferguson has always been ‘PATIENCE’ and he has been proven right more often than not. Manchester United could have had one foot in the Wembley final by half time had only half the chances they created were taken. Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was also a huge obstacle as he denied United time and again before he was finally beaten by Ryan Giggs after 67 minutes. Wayne Rooney then popped up almost immediately to double the score leaving the tie virtually over and done with.

How can anyone possibly select the most influential Manchester United player after a performance like this? There was not a single weak link in the entire 90 minutes. Edwin van der Sar showed yet again why even at the age of 40, his intended retirement should be the last thing on his mind. Others who even United fans have been critical of in the past were superb. John O’Sheas delightful reverse pass enabled Ryan Giggs to set up the opening goal for Chicharito and Ji Sung Park must have been close to being man of the match, his high energy display rewarded with a winner which was just as clinical as Didier Drogba’s equaliser. Then there was Michael Carricks composure in midfield to continue his resurgent form in recent weeks.
