Red Dead Podcast 6 – Brom, De Gea, City and Aguero and THAT bloody chant

Welcome to the sixth episode of the “Red Dead Podcast”, the preeminent Manchester United podcast for Truly Reds, brought to you as always by Tom “Darren Fletcher” Addison and Liam “Wrestlemania” Brown.

This week we’re taking a look at United’s performances against West Brom and Man City in recent weeks and the hysteria surrounding two mistakes made by new boy De Gea in both of those games, as well as assessing City’s chances in the league this season (thanks to their latest signing) and also those of Arsenal (thanks to their latest departure).

We’ll also be discussing the rumours regarding a potential share issue by United on the Singapore stock market, but most importantly we’ll be delving into the issue of why United fans seem to use the same song for so many players (with Ashley Young being the latest victim)

Comments, feedback and questions are greatly appreciated, you can contact us on reddeadpodcast@hotmail.co.uk (no spam please, neither of us have a desire to get “ripped” in six weeks, nor meet local slags in our area)

Remember, you can also follow us, and Truly Reds, on Twitter: @TrulyReds @TomRDPodcast and @LiamRDPodcast

Join us again soon, where we’ll hopefully be discussing a United home win against Tottenham, and anything else that tickles our fancy.

Same old as United beat City once again

What a way to kick off a new campaign? A boring two month off season – with no real football except a non event like the Womens World Cup, and nothing more than sheer repetitive transfer speculation by a news hungry media! REAL action is now back and the two Manchester rivals provided loads of it at Wembley Stadium as United came back from trailing by two first half goals to lift the annual Community Shield with an injury time Nani winner and leave City crying in their barrels of oil yet again! This is what football’s all about, if it was a taste of things to come, BRING IT ON!

Captain Vidic relishes his new responsibility

One of the longest running sagas during the recent transfer window did not include a big name super signing arriving at Old Trafford but a near universal assumption that Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic was on his way to Europe with even rumors of him crossing to the blue side of Manchester taking hold. Instead, the big defender not only signed a new four year contract to remain at United but was also handed the captains armband by manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Paul Scholes never ceases to amaze

The name is Scholes – Paul Scholes and he is the man who never ceases to amaze. At the age of 35 and starting his 17th Premier League season, he turned on a performance which defied everything anyone can possibly expect. Even his manager Sir Alex Ferguson who has seen it all over the years, was moved to hail the display Scholes put on in the 3-0 win over newly promoted Newcastle United. The veteran was instrumental in Manchester United’s success at Old Trafford, running the midfield and creating two of the three goals.

Carrick refuses to contemplate another failure

England midfielder Michael Carrick had never experienced an end of season Manchester United dressing room in which there was no champagne soaked Premier League trophy to celebrate another title winning campaign – until last May. In the three years since his £18million move from Tottenham, the 28 year old had only known success at Old Trafford and is determined not to go through that feeling of ‘what might have been’ again.

Player overload? Get rid of meaningless matches

The annual Charity Shield – sorry, it’s called The FA Community Shield these days, is nearly upon us again which usually means a nice day out at Wembley for Manchester United fans…and precious little else. It’s a trophy that United has lifted 17 times in its history, 13 outright and 4 shared, which is more than any other club but does anyone really care?
