Why Did It Have To Be A Relief At The End?

A big sigh of relief at the end of the game but why did we have to sigh at the end when it was so comfortable for so long in the match? It was because once Manchester United took a 2 goal lead, United decided to take the foot off the pedal and instead of passing forwards, United decided to pass sideways instead. United could have scored three maybe four maybe if United had decided to keep attacking and keep up the pressure on Liverpool. At the end of the match, we cannot help but feel satisfied and extremely delighted to have beaten our hated and hostile rivals, Liverpool in one of the most eagerly awaited matches of the English and world football calendar. I think all of us, Manchester United fans, could relate with Patrice Evra’s celebration at the end of the match because that is how we felt and given a choice, we might do the same. Can We Really Make It 20 This Season?

The statistics this morning read; Manchester United joint top but still second in the table due to an inferior goal difference compared to that of Manchester City. Our neighbours lost thanks to a goal by an ex-Red Devil, the most recent one to move to the blue half of Liverpool, Darron Gibson. Ironically, his departure might have brought about some cheers among United fans all over the world and what is more ironic, is that perhaps his goal in the blue of Everton must have been cheered loudest by United fans; louder than any that he has scored while wearing the red of Manchester United. Oh How It Hurts to lose there…..

Oh how it hurts to lose to one of the teams that we absolutely hate losing to; Liverpool. How the faces got gloomy and sullen after a defeat like that. The emotions felt at this point of time would be one of heartbreak and disappointment after a late winner by Liverpool in a game that was in most parts dominated by Manchester United. The Scousers would feel that justice had been done as Patrice Evra let Dirk Kuyt in to volley home the winner but we dominated large parts of the match which is scant consolation at the end of it all because we have been knocked out of another cup competition this season and that to at the hands of our rival. The big debate: David de Gea vs. Anders Lindegaard

I’m Sexy And I Know It

By: Anandu.

With the debate over Manchester United’s first-team goalkeeper raging ferociously, this author steps back and let the statistics do the talking.

Bereft of self confidence and devoid of regular football, David de Gea has been disappointingly underwhelming in his first season as Manchester United’s new numero uno. With seemingly huge boots to fill, the Spaniard’s apparent lack of concentration and slight frame meant that he was a seen as a weak link by every single opposing team, and was subjected to all sorts of physical and aerial bullying. Rise of the Dead…Nearly for those in the Blue half

The final whistle is blown at the Etihad Stadium and it is safe and fair to say that Manchester United fans the world over breathed a huge collective sigh of relief. Pre kickoff, we had the shock news of Paul Scholes coming out of retirement to contend with. One way or another, United fans would in general be left wondering on why the sudden change of heart from the normally resolute Englishman and how will the quiet maestro do on his return which depended on him coming on in the game as he was named on the bench. Like many, I was shocked at his change in heart but certainly didn’t look at it as a step forward rather I looked at it as a step backward maybe a step in desperation. Read the full story

A Good Tonic To Overcome A Disappointment

4-1 is what the score board read at Old Trafford at the end of 90 minutes in Manchester United’s first game after the massive disappointment of the very early exit from the Champions League. Pre- game, I had called this match to be close as Wolverhampton Wanderers have run us close in our three encounters last season and even managed to beat us at Molinuex in the Premier League. It was close this season too but as the scoreline suggests it wasn’t too close and we could have scored more and win by a bigger margin. Read the full story
