It’s a well known fact that you believe what you read in the media at your peril especially when a report appears in a newspaper notorious for its lack of credibility as the Daily Mail. It does make you wonder however whether there’s a fire burning whenever smoke appears which prompts the question – What will you do if you were one of the world’s most successful football managers and were offered a £10million a year deal to take charge of a club with unlimited amounts of money to sign anyone you want? Will you grab the opportunity with both hands? Who could possibly be crazy enough to reject such a chance? Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho that’s who and you have to ask yourself why!

It’s disappointing when former highly talented players become bitter as they age. Although he spent his best years in the blue of Manchester City, Mike Summerbee was a close friend and business partner of Manchester United icon George Best while he was also widely respected by most red fans. He now sadly seems to have developed a huge chip on his shoulder as he attacked the British media by claiming that it’s biased against his old club. That was just a few days after an embarrassing performance on Sky TV following United’s 2-1 win over City in which he confessed that “I did lose my temper a little bit”. Was that simply the frustration of yet another defeat at the hands of a hated rival or was it reflecting the strongly held bitterness felt by so many City fans?

The ground announcer welcomed fans at the Old Trafford derby to the “greatest football club in the world”. That’s a debatable statement of course but what can not be disputed is that at the end of the following 90 minutes, Manchester United proved once again that it is without doubt “the greatest football club in Manchester” The 2-1 defeat of their blue neighbours has virtually knocked Manchester City out of the title race and are left to merely challenge for a Champions League spot. Envious Manchester United fans have often stated in their ‘wink, wink, nudge, nudge, I know something you don’t’ manner that Sir Alex Ferguson has a group of agents in charge of rival clubs to help him win Premiership titles. They allegedly include Sam Allardyce, Alex McLeish, Steve Bruce, Mark Hughes and goodness knows who else they may imagine in their tiny, little minds. Well here’s another one to add to that list, Sir Alex has planted Manchester City assistant Brian Kidd at Eastlands because his former right hand man has hoisted the white flag by insisting that “The title is Manchester United’s to chuck away”. That’s it then, Citeh are no longer title challengers this season because Kidd has surrendered his club’s chances.
