Where have all the United lads disappear to?


The Carrington training complex was eerily quiet this week as players made a mass exodus to link up with their national teams all over Europe. Most are helping their countries in the efforts to qualify for Euro 2012, while others had to travel further afield. It’s a price that has to be paid when the squad contains so many internationals from all over the world. For the sake of anyone wondering what destinations the various Manchester United lads have been heading for, here’s a complete list of their schedules.

New keeper is on the cards as Kuszczak plans exit


One of the biggest expectations during the recently closed transfer window was for Manchester United to secure a top class goalkeeper in preparation for veteran Edwin van der Sar’s impending retirement. Those expectations were further increased when Sir Alex Ferguson was prepared to allow Ben Foster move to Birmingham City but to the surprise of many, a replacement failed to materialise with Sir Alex putting all his faith in his number two keeper Tomasz Kuszczak. It was interesting see a report in the Manchester Evening News therefore that the Poland international is now contemplating a move away from Old Trafford despite van der Sar getting closer with every game to hanging up his gloves.

Toshack unmoved by calls for a Giggs comeback


If wishful thinking ever had a chance of coming true, Wales will recall Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs to play for his country in the qualifying matches for Euro 2012. It’s a huge call after the Welsh wizard announced his retirement from international football in 2007 but that reality has not stopped people like former Wales boss Terry Yorath saying that “The first available chance that John Toshak has he should be on the phone to Ryan and get him back into Welsh football.”
