Football’s increasingly global nature means Manchester United will approach the FA Youth Cup final with Sheffield United pledging to continue their worldwide search for talent. The likelihood is Paul McGuinness’ side for Tuesday’s first-leg duel at Bramall Lane will include representatives from Italy, Holland and France. Spanish World Cup winner Gerard Pique appeared in the competition for United in recent years, as did Giuseppe Rossi and Federico Macheda. 21 April 1999, Stadio Del Alpi, Turin, Champions League Semi Final, second leg – The man who will be trying to mastermind a Marseilles defeat over Manchester United at the Velodrome on Wednesday night was an influential member of the Juventus side in that unforgettable match. Midfielder and France World Cup winning captain Didier Deschamps admitted “United played superbly. We did well in the first 20 minutes but after that we really suffered and they deserved to win. Many are sure to disagree but it’s little wonder that I love the man! From a football rebel he has become a social one and all power to him. Manchester United legend Eric Cantona is calling on people worldwide to withdraw their money from banks to put a stop to the misery of the worldwide recession caused by the banks, gaining widespread support in France, Britain and Ireland amongst others along the way. He’s convinced that a campaign for people to go to their ATM and withdraw all their savings on December 7th would spark a revolution in which people will be freed from the misery piled on them by those banks.

Despite lasting the whole 90 minutes in the 2-0 defeat of Wigan on Saturday, a groin injury picked up while playing for England in the friendly match against France last week will keep Manchester United’s influential defender Rio Ferdinand out of the Champions League clash with Rangers on Wednesday night. According to manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the injury was not bad enough to rule him out of the Wigan game but is not prepared to risk aggravating the problem in Glasgow. United only needs a single point from their last two qualifying matches to ensure progress to the knock out stage.
