As the senior squad prepares for a new season with a whirlwind tour of North America, the youngsters for whom Sir Alex Ferguson has such high hopes for are working hard at Carrington under reserve team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Whether by choice or sheer necessity, Ferguson has made it clear on many occasions that the future success of Manchester United lies in a sophisticated youth system which has become the envy of the Premier League.

It’s just three weeks before the start of the new season yet Manchester United’s teenage striker Danny Welbeck still does not know what colours he’ll be wearing come the big kick off. Sir Alex Ferguson had earlier indicated that he planned to send his 19 year old on loan for another season following his stint at Preston North End in the last campaign but Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is also keen to buy him outright. Welbeck is currently on tour with Ferguson in the United States and the issue is unlikely to be settled until the squad returns to Old Trafford.

It’s a well known fact within the game that many players believe that clubs will pay them whatever they demand for their services, or at least their own agents lead them to think that way. Granted, some clubs are totally irresponsible with the amount of money they throw around but Manchester United is not one of them. The club simply refuses to give in to demands which are nothing short of blackmail and has vowed not to break its wage structure.

Manchester United bounced back from last week Liverpool defeat after recording a two goals win to down Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford. Man United attacking duo Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney scored in the second half to give the reds a deserved victory.
Man United had the most of the first half chances. Berbatov could have a hat-trick of luck didn’t stand in front of him. He also scored a goal after fast passes between Nani and Rooney but the goal was ruled out for offside. Read the full story

Has finished his summer spending
I can’t believe that United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has finished his summer spending already. Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia and Gabriel Obertan are the only arrivals at United this summer and it looked like we would be signing a superstar as well.
Unfortunately for the United faithful there will be no more arrivals at Old Trafford. Sir Alex has put this down to the transfer market catching fire and players value being inflated this summer. So players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Sergio Aguero and Douglas Costa will not be plying their trade at the Theatre of Dreams next season. Read the full story

Is Obertan heading to Old Trafford?
According to Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud Manchester United are close to signing their young star Gabriel Obertan. After missing out on Lyon youngster Karim Benzema, United now look likely to capture another young French star.
The youngster is highly rated and made his Bordeaux debut at the age of just 17, but struggled to get into the first team last season and was loaned out to Lorient were he made 15 appearances scoring just once. He is a French under-21 international and other major European clubs such as AC Milan, Inter and Arsenal have expressed an interest in securing his signature.
