It’s come down to a simple equation. Fifteen points left to play for from which Manchester United need to get ten to ensure the Premier League trophy returning to Old Trafford for the fourth time in the last five seasons – and clinch a record 19 titles in the process. Liverpool born striker Wayne Rooney is desperate for United to complete the job confessing to United Review recently that “winning a record title and overtaking Liverpool would mean so much to us players as well as the fans. I know all the Everton fans want us to do it and that’s our aim”

April 21, 2011 – There are more Manchester United stories in the media than any other club – some are worth reading, others are absolute garbage! How can anyone possibly keep up with them all? Truly Reds does it’s best to bring you the latest news but there’s only so much that can be covered. One alternative is to collate the stories which cannot be updated daily so that they can at least be brought to your attention each Thursday of every week

So the treble dream is over. Manchester City got a deserved rare win over United to clinch an FA Cup Final berth giving them an opportunity of ending their long, 35 year trophy drought. But the wait is far from over yet as either Bolton or Stoke will have plenty to say about the matter. This game was won and lost when Dimitar Berbatov wasted two golden opportunities within 60 seconds in the opening quarter hour then Michael Carrick was inexplicably caught in possession after 52 minutes allowing Yaya Toure to fire home what proved to be the winner.

How can anyone possibly select the most influential Manchester United player after a performance like this? There was not a single weak link in the entire 90 minutes. Edwin van der Sar showed yet again why even at the age of 40, his intended retirement should be the last thing on his mind. Others who even United fans have been critical of in the past were superb. John O’Sheas delightful reverse pass enabled Ryan Giggs to set up the opening goal for Chicharito and Ji Sung Park must have been close to being man of the match, his high energy display rewarded with a winner which was just as clinical as Didier Drogba’s equaliser. Then there was Michael Carricks composure in midfield to continue his resurgent form in recent weeks.
