Former Manchester United skipper Roy Keane ‘was the best captain any club could have ever wanted’ or so I thought until these “incidents” came to light. He demanded players gave everything for the club and he got it out of them mainly through being so scary that no one would ever argue with captain psycho. But there’s no denying that he was a cantankerous bugger. Here are some of the most memorable moments where Keano was feeling a little pissed off with the world. It made me stop and think for a minute but guess what? Despite his outbursts, I still think Roy Keane ‘was the best captain any club could have ever wanted.’

If previous meetings between Manchester United and West Ham are any indication, there should be plenty of goals put away on Saturday. The two clubs have often turned on the entertainment with scorelines of 5-3 at Upton Park and 6-0 at Old Trafford but the 7-1 on the first April Fools day of the ‘noughties’ stands out as the biggest defeat the Hammers ever suffered at the hands of United. One of the highlights was Paul Scholes’ first hat trick for the club but a young Rio Ferdinand lining up in the West Ham defence must have wondered what hit him. Perhaps the biggest sympathy must go to Hammers goalkeeper Craig Forrest who was on the receiving end of the heaviest Premiership defeat in history when Ipswich went down 9-0 to United five years earlier.

Like every other football club manager Sir Alex Ferguson has made his share of mistakes during his 25 years at Old Trafford but admits that his biggest one was accepting an offer from Lazio for Jaap Stam at the start of the 2001-02 season. Fergie has since made his peace with the central defender who was sold against the backdrop of dressing room revelations in his autobiography and doesn’t mind admitting that he is still troubled by selling the big Dutchman.

Out?
Many reports suggest that Nemanja Vidic is on his way out of Manchester United as Barcelona and Juventus are ready to splash cash on the Serbian international defender.
Corriere dello Sport believes Manchester United scouts in Brazil, including former defender Jaap Stam, have been tracking the progress of Brazilian international defender Joao Miranda who is believed to be the best choice to replace Nemanja Vidic. Read the full story

Former Manchester United defender’s Jaap Stam has made a shock return to Manchester United as a talent scout. The former Holland defender’s relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson was critical when his candid 2001 autobiography carped the Fergie and some players like Roy Keane.
The centre back was sold to Lazio within weeks but the 36-year-old, who retired last year after ending his playing career at Ajax, is reported to be working as a scout for United.
Stam was spotted in Porto Alegre in Brazil this week to watch a youth-team match between Internacional and Ceramica. It is believed that United have been linked with Gremio’s Douglas Costa and Stam saw the creative midfielder put in a man-of-the-match performance in just his second start.
Costa has just signed a new contract with Gremio after turning 18, increasing his buy-out clause from £5million to £21m after reports also linked him to Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Dubbed the ‘new jewel of Brazilian football’ by Gremio president Paulo Odone, Costa is already impressing coaches and team-mates, scoring from 20 yards in Saturday’s 2-1 win against Botafogo.
Sir Alex Ferguson is pleased that he finally got some talents from Brazil, remember Kleberson’s nightmare, and he will be happy to add Costa to the long young Brazilian players list.
Welcome back Jaap!
