Red Dead Podcast “Number 8″ – Spanking Arsenal, Hargo’s “Betrayal” and a Silly Liverpool Fan

Welcome to the eigth episode of the Red Dead Podcast, the stupendous Manchester United podcast for Truly Reds, brought to you as always by Tom “Darren Fletcher” Addison and Liam “Wrestlemania” Brown.

This week we analyse United’s cracking performance against l’Arse and bask in the (Red Dead) redemption of our favourite Spanish ‘keeper. We also take a lot at the best of the football from around Europe and, perhaps unfairly, tear into Scottish football a little bit.

We also offer our view on the surprising transfer of Owen Hargreaves to Manchester City, and also rip to shreads an article written by a Liverpool fan, comparing the current United squad with the current Scouse one.

Comments, feedback and questions are greatly appreciated, you can contact us on reddeadpodcast@hotmail.co.uk

Remember, you can also follow us, and Truly Reds, on Twitter: @TrulyReds @TomRDPodcast and @LiamRDPodcast

Due to the international break we won’t be podcasting for another couple of weeks, but don’t worry! I’m sure we’ll have plenty to discuss for next time, including what Liam’s favourite soup is and how much Tom weighs.

Why Fergie may be causing United to be snubbed

Despite it being denied, Holland’s master midfielder Wesley Sneijder has reportedly snubbed the advances made by Sir Alex Ferguson stating that he wanted to stay at the San Siro. Chelsea and England free transfer Joe Cole did the same, preferring to consider offers from a number of other clubs. Another half a dozen high quality targets never made the move to Old Trafford despite being consistently linked with the club. There could be a host of reasons why anyone with real ambition turns down one of the world’s leading clubs, including the alleged lack of funds in United’s coffers, but there could also be the surprising possibility that one of the problems could be Sir Alex himself!

Rooney may be too committed for his own good

England’s final warm up game before kicking off their World Cup campaign could have easily seen striker Wayne Rooney red carded – and it may have done him the world of good. Referee Jeff Selogilwe called him a foul mouthed liability in the 3-0 defeat of  local club side Platinum Stars after Selogilwe booked the super striker for swearing saying “Rooney insulted me, he said ‘F*** you”

Sir Alex prowling for midfielder

Sir Alex Ferguson will up his search for a long-term successor for Paul Scholes this summer. And the Glazers have vowed to back his hunt for a replacement for 35-year-old Scholes with the £80m from Cristiano Ronaldo’s sale to Real Madrid still available.

Portuguese midfielder Miguel Veloso and Croatian playmaker Milan Badelj are Fergie’s top targets. Badelj, a 21-year-old from Dinamo Zagreb, has been dubbed the new Zvonimir Boban in his homeland – and the former AC Milan star was a one-time target for Ferguson in the 1990s.
