Manchester United lost to Liverpool for the first time since April 2004 and has thrown a three top in the race to retain the English premier league crown. Now Liverpool went top of the table thanks to Van der Sar mistake and Ryan Babel who scored the winner in the second half after caming off the bench.
With Dimitar Berbatov, making his debut, Sir Alex Ferguson has gambled as he played with 4-3-3 system which saw Rooney and Tevez playing upfront too. The new system could only work for the first 15 minutes. Carlos Tevez has given the Red Devils an early lead in the 3rd minute when Berbatov held off Carragher and passed the ball to Tevez who calmly put the ball past Reina.
Liverpool was given a gifted goal when Van der Sar tried to put Xabi Alonso cross away. He blocked the ball but unlucky Brown was on his way and the ball rebounded into United goal.
In the second half, Liverpool has put United under pressure and they were winning everything in the middle of the pitch. Giggs replaced Carrick who injured his ankle again which means the player is unlikely to face Villareal this Wednsday in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United will be looking for another win tomorrow against Liverpool in one of the most attractive derby in football history. The Northwest derby will be played at Anfield, Kickoff at 12:45 GMT, and United are looking to extent their winning record against Liverpool to a sixth victory out of seven games have been playing during the last three years.
The Premier League holder are playing their third league game, due to UEFA super cup, and winning the game tomorrow will see Reds top of the league table for a while with a game in hand.
It is likely that Sir Alex Ferguson starts with Dimitar Berbatov, the only player signed for United this season, up front. However, Ferguson has to decide who will partner Berbatov. Both Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez are fit for the game. We expect Wayne Rooney, who scored a goal against Croatia, to start the game with Berbatov with Tevez to take part in the second half. The other scenario is to let the trio start the game and change the system from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3. Read the full story

England physio has stated today the Manchester United and England defender will be fit to partner John Terry. This mean that Ferdinand will be fit to play in next week game against Liverpool at Anfeild. Capello confirmed his vice-captain is fit enough to resume his partnership with John Terry at the centre of defence - which also means he could be available for United’s crunch clash with Liverpool on Saturday.
Capello said: “Rio is fit for the game and it is good to have him available because he is a leader and an important player.”
Ferdinand was replaced by Everton’s Joleon Lescott against Andorra, but ahead of arguably the most important game of England’s qualifying campaign, Capello is understandably relieved to have the United man available again.
Ferguson, too, will have been worried about the prospect of travelling to Anfield on Saturday without such a key player.
Meanwhile, Terry has urged England to take control of their World Cup destiny with victory tonight.
“If we win every home game and our big games, we’ll be OK,” he said. “It’s a fresh start for everyone - a new campaign with everybody fighting for a place under the new manager.
“If we can win then great, but if we draw it is a very good result too. They haven’t lost here for a while and that is something we’re aware of.”
