19 year old Manchester United striker Federico Macheda will make his Serie A debut for his new club Sampdoria in their away clash with Palermo on Thursday afternoon providing all documents for his loan move are completed on time. He also revealed that he told Sir Alex Ferguson upon his departure that he fully expects to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season. Sampdoria were forced into hastily arranging the loan move for Macheda in order to replace Italian international Antonio Cassano who let for AC Milan after falling out with club president Riccardo Garrone.

A good week has just got better for Manchester United young Italian striker Federico Macheda after netting twice in an Under 21 friendly 2-1 defeat of Turkey on Wednesday. Kiko had sparked that late fight back by United at Villa Park on the weekend and believes that there are more from where those goals came from pledging to follow his brace with a hat trick – then slammed former Italy Under-21 Coach Pierluigi Casiraghi. “I can give more” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport “If I scored two this time, then for the next game I will get three.”

Going into the ninth game Manchester United faced in the last 28 days, I must confess that I would have settled for the one point at Villa Park. With ten minutes remaining I was praying for it before Federico Macheda and Nemanja Vidic finally got it. Unlike so many matches in which points were frittered away this season, this was an occasion in which United were forced to provide one of the typical comebacks that they have become renowned for to snatch a 2-2 draw. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson was philosophical about the result saying that “I think we’ve seen a great game today. Great credit to Aston Villa, they got stuck in, tackled, fought and the crowd kept them going”
