There was a report in a business journal a few years ago in which the writer gave an opinion that whenever News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch dies, the news may not be released for as long as possible for fear that the corporation’s share price will plummet. That story came to mind when it was revealed that Wayne Rooney made his U turn after he had a phone conversation with Joel Glazer rather than with the 82 year old patriarch Malcolm. Now nobody wants to wish the old boy any physical harm but you cannot help but start wondering if maybe, just maybe…

Hey, want to hear the one about the pot calling the kettle black? An American journalist by the name of Brian Strauss, Senior Soccer Writer no less, covering the Manchester United tour in Philadelphia for AOL website FanHouse, spat the dummy in one of his reports this week accusing United players and English journalists of being arrogant! Now this is not meant to be a Yankee bashing exercise just because most of us don’t like the Glazers but these comments are a bit like John Terry accusing a team mate of eying his wife.

Manchester United scored another title success by being valued as the biggest football club in the world. Despite a turbulent year for British clubs, the Old Trafford side held on to top spot in Forbes Magazine’s list of the world’s 20 most valuable football teams. United, who have now topped the table for six years, were valued by Forbes at £1.19 billion after a 2% fall from last year.
