June 2, 2011 – There are more Manchester United stories in the media than any other club – some are worth reading, others are absolute garbage! How can anyone possibly keep up with them all? Truly Reds does it’s best to bring you the latest news but there’s only so much that can be covered. One alternative is to collate the stories which cannot be updated daily so that they can at least be brought to your attention each Thursday of every week
The primary target was 19 which was successfully won!
Anything else would have merely been a bonus

Veteran striker Michael Owen has issued a timely warning to Manchester United fans to curb their high expectations when he told manutd.com “We’re in a good position but we’re also wary that one bad week, let alone a bad month, can ruin our season.” Sensible words from the 31 year old who has experienced everything that football can throw up. Owen is completely fit once again after suffering a groin injury in February and did not ease up during the recent two week break in an effort to remain sharp.

Sir Alex Ferguson showed complete faith in his second string strikers by keeping substitutes Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov sitting on the bench even though Manchester United were trailing a brave Southampton by a goal well into the hour mark at St Marys Stadium. He was rewarded as Michael Owen first equalised after 65 minutes then Javier Hernandez won this fourth round cup tie in the final quarter hour.
