Why United fans should not give up on Hargreaves


There may finally be some good news for chronically injured Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves. Orthopedic consultant Sanjiv Jari from the Manchester Sports Medicine Clinic has given an opinion that the outlook may not be as grim as it currently appears. Although manager Sir Alex Ferguson has named Hargreaves in United’s 25 man Premier League squad for the 2010-11 campaign, there has been no up to date medical bulletin from Old Trafford on his condition.

Career still in doubt as Hargreaves makes the cut


The much anticipated new 25 player squad rule which came into being at 5pm on Tuesday has been little more than a non event as far as Manchester United were concerned. As the club reported on its official website “All United players, barring those currently out on loan, are eligible to play for the Reds in the Premier League this season. United’s Champions League squad has also been submitted to UEFA, European football’s governing body and now has to be verified before being confirmed.”

Anderson on the way back but Stoke wants Gibson


If asked, you can rest assured that Manchester United Brazilian midfielder Anderson will be the first to admit that he’s a very a lucky man. Instead of preparing for the new season with his team mates at Carrington, he could just as easily be lying in a hospital bed in Portugal…or worse. He was fortunate not to suffer serious injury last month when he had to be dragged unconscious from the blazing wreckage of his high powered sports car in the early hours of the morning after allegedly spending the previous night in a nightclub.

Achtung! No German footballers for Ferguson


Perhaps the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson has been hesitant to sign World Cup star Mesut Ozil from Werder Bremen should not be altogether surprising. The midfielder appears capable of ticking every one of the required boxes – except one. You see, the 21 year old is German and Ferguson has NEVER, ever signed a German player in all his years at Old Trafford.

Ferguson is Cleverley handling young Tom’s career


It’s a hell of a wrap to put on a 20 year old but Sir Alex Ferguson is convinced that midfielder Tom Cleverley will develop into the long term replacement of Manchester United legend Paul Scholes. In what was possibly the best news to come out of Old Trafford this week, Ferguson has confirmed that Cleverley will not be loaned out as has been generally expected saying that “Tom has got outstanding qualities as far as goalscoring is concerned, so he is going to stay”
