Every Manchester United fan has that fabulous night in Barcelona 11 years ago ingrained in their mind as the greatest football event of their life. After all it’s not every day that an incredible treble can be achieved, it was in all probability a once in a lifetime experience.
When Ole Gunnar Solskjær somehow managed to transform 90 minutes of torture into sheer ecstasy, the millions of United fans around the world erupted into an explosion of joy. To anyone who watched the drama unfold that night it must still seem like it was only yesterday.

Sir Alex Ferguson will up his search for a long-term successor for Paul Scholes this summer. And the Glazers have vowed to back his hunt for a replacement for 35-year-old Scholes with the £80m from Cristiano Ronaldo’s sale to Real Madrid still available.
Portuguese midfielder Miguel Veloso and Croatian playmaker Milan Badelj are Fergie’s top targets. Badelj, a 21-year-old from Dinamo Zagreb, has been dubbed the new Zvonimir Boban in his homeland – and the former AC Milan star was a one-time target for Ferguson in the 1990s.

Michael Owen has been ruled out for the rest of the season following a hamstring injury picked up during Sunday’s Carling Cup final victory over Aston Villa. The former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Newcastle forward pulled up during the first half on the heavy pitch and limped out of the action to be replaced by Wayne Rooney.
Scans have now revealed that the hamstring problem sustained by the 30-year-old will keep him out of action for the remainder of the campaign and will undergo an operation on Monday.

Something is definitely wrong here! It was never supposed to be like this! The Premier League was going to be different this season, Manchester United were going to be replaced by new Champions. At least those were the firm predictions by the majority of football “experts” back in August!
Liverpool will go one step further after finishing second last May, their time is here at last. Arsene Wengers youngsters have come of age and are ready to go all the way while Italian supremo Carlo Ancelotti is what Chelsea needed to take the title back to Stamford Bridge. And Champions Manchester Uniteds prospects? “No, not this time I’m afraid!”

The international break is the best time to talk about the players we wish to see at Old Trafford in the New Year.
