Transfer rumours are a dime a dozen. Very few have genuine substance so they should always be taken with a huge amount of cynicism. Yet they cannot be completely ignored in case there’s the slightest grain of truth in them. Some media outlets are obviously more reliable than others so Truly Reds is prepared to report the gossip and give a rating of 1 to 5 as to how believable it’s likely be. A rating of 1 can almost certainly be dismissed out of hand while a 5 may give the story some merit and warrant a small wager. Have a look at the latest sports news and transfers being reported but be warned – only believe what you want.

Promising Manchester United ‘play anywhere’ Tom Cleverley has insisted England have their pick of a bright bunch of talented youngsters saying that the talent is in place to replace the old guard. The 20 year old Bradford raised utility player has received a huge boost after Sir Alex Ferguson declared he wasn’t releasing him on loan again following successive stays at Leicester City and Watford. The manager is prepared to give Cleverley every chance of staking a claim for a place in the senior side.

The large number of players linked to Manchester United in the last few weeks has been extraordinary. A hardened cynic, like this one, could not be blamed for thinking that the vast majority of them never had a hope in hell of ever going through yet there is something about the proposed move of Rafael van der Vaart from Real Madrid that seems to be a little different. A gut feeling if you like, that this time, the transfer could prove to be the real thing.

Well publicized comments coming out of America from United Chief Executive David Gill and manager Sir Alex Ferguson claim that both were insisting there may only be one more signing for the new season with the team mainly relying on the talent developed during the last few years. Reports have now surfaced however that United made an unsuccessful bid for Valencia striker David Villa in the last 24 hours, are pursuing Jack Rodwell from Everton and are ready to go head to head with Manchester City for Aston Villa’s James Milner.
