Villa, Pastore…and more transfer gossip


Transfer rumours are a dime a dozen. Very few have genuine substance so they should always be taken with a huge amount of cynicism. Yet they cannot be completely ignored in case there’s the slightest grain of truth in them. Some media outlets are obviously more reliable than others so Truly Reds is prepared to report the gossip and give a rating of 1 to 5 as to how believable it’s likely be. A rating of 1 can almost certainly be dismissed out of hand while a 5 may give the story some merit and warrant a small wager. United wins group – just as Ferguson ordered


It was not easy but the job was completed in the end. Mind you, had only half the chances created by Manchester United been taken, the game could have been won before half time. Not for the first time this season, good opportunities went begging and United nearly paid a heavy price when Pablo gave Valencia the lead against the run of play just after the half hour. It took an all too rare Anderson equaliser after 62 minutes to get the one point needed to ensure top place in the group.

Carrick may have had a gut full…of success!


There are players who have flogged their guts out for their clubs throughout their whole careers without ever knowing what it’s like to hold a winning Premier League medal – think Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher. Then there are others like Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick who have collected 3 in his three seasons at Old Trafford and may well be on his way to maintaining a 100% record with a fourth in the next couple of weeks.

Just 24 hours to go before the 2nd leg, Bayern Munich, Champions League quarter final showdown. The nerves are already jangling with Manchester United trailing 1-2 and super striker Wayne Rooney unavailable. The odds must be with the Germans but is it a lost cause?
