Who’s The “Best Ever”? Who Can Really Say?


And so it’s that time of the year again when newspapers, websites and magazines from all over the world highlight what they believe to have been the best and worst moments in football in 2010, looking at events both on and off the pitch. In this country, the majority of the “worst” moments have been deemed to be concerned with the morally bankrupt, money grabbing ways of the players today and the underhanded, corrupt and sinister dealings of FIFA, with the plaudits for the “best” moments being handed out mainly to Lionel Messi and his teams inspiring 5-0 demolition of Real Madrid in November. The new Ronaldinho wants a move to United


A young Brazilian who many believe could develop into the new Ronaldinho still wants to join Manchester United even though he has only recently completed a transfer to Russia’s Shakhtar Donetsk. Douglas Costa, the 19 year old winger who Sir Alex Ferguson sees as a possible replacement for Ryan Giggs, wanted him at Old Trafford for trials in December but Costa’s former club Gremio said no deal. Despite his disappointment, the young Brazilian still hopes to one day have a future at Old Trafford.

Just a walk in the Park for Ji-sung


That 7-2 demolition of AC Milan over two legs was the sort of highly professional performance that fans and the whole of Europe have come to expect from whatever side Sir Alex Ferguson decides to select. It did not take a genius to predict that Wayne Rooney would dominate the headlines with his total of four goals but there was clearly far more than the Roo factor involved.

Every red played a significant role in those two polished displays including goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar who did whatever was required on the few occasions he was tested. Perhaps the surprise package for most United fans however was the often underrated South Korean midfielder Ji-sung Park.
