RIP Eddie Lewis – Busby Babes are never forgotten


It’s a well known fact that anyone who has ever donned the famous red shirt of Manchester United is revered by fans long after they leave Old Trafford. Someone who was part of the first ever Busby Babes that was part of transforming the club into the world giant it is today, is even more so – which is why the passing of 76 year old Eddie Lewis in South Africa last week is mourned by the United family. He may not have been the best known member of the Babes but he was certainly one of the very first.

'BELIEVE' This United fan certainly does


Manchester United fans are never short of faith in their side. manutd.com has now found Colin Mattheus, who revealed how the Old Trafford faithful inspired him to get a special tattoo dedicated to the Reds. Prior to kick off in the Champions League semi final second leg against Barcelona in 2008, the Stretford End displayed a message of support to the players by holding up a mosaic of the word 'believe'. Sir Alex’s men didn’t let the fans down as Paul Scholes’ glorious winner fired the Reds to Moscow.

Three successive man of the match performances by veteran midfielder Paul Scholes have caught the attention of France legend Zinedine Zidane. Scholes has made a sizzling start to the new season turning on man of the match displays for Manchester United in the 3-1 defeat of Chelsea in the Community Shield, Newcastle and then Fulham in the Premier League. England manager Fabio Capello is understood to still want the midfield maestro included in his  squad.

Evra puts the French World Cup farce behind


Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is relieved to put his South African summer of discontent behind and concentrate on the imminent Premier League season ahead. The 29 year old is one of five players summoned by the French Football Federation to face a disciplinary hearing scheduled for later this month. As team captain Evra is facing sanctions for leading a player revolt at the World Cup but feels that he is being unfairly punished and says he wants to wear his country’s colours once again.
