Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has shrugged off potential concerns over the youthful back line that will spring up against Tottenham at Old Trafford on Monday. Left back Patrice Evra returns after missing the opening win at West Brom and will be the guiding hand alongside Phil Jones 19, Jonny Evans 23, Chris Smalling 21 and new 20 year old goalkeeper David de Gea.

It’s 5.45am on Saturday 14th March 2009. Tim Webber sits alone in front of a television inLas Vegas watching his team Manchester United slip to a crushing defeat to arch rivals Liverpool. As soon as the humiliation finishes he returns to bed for two hours sleep, waking his girlfriend Clare, before he rises for a five hour drive to San Diego. We all know that football fans will do anything for their team but does that sound worth it? This is not a one off however. For seven months Tim gave up his season ticket to travel through 14 countries attempting to follow United across 11 time zones, all whilst trying not to destroy his and Clare s trip of a lifetime. The transfer window has only been opened for a few days yet my head is already spinning. Players already confirmed as coming to Old Trafford, gossip of others possibly being signed, yet more returning from loan spells and some being loaned out. So where does the Sir Alex Fergusons revamped squad stand today? Have I unintentionally omitted anyone? Please let us know of any other thoughts you may have.

The now almost certain signing of 20 year old Athletico Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea leaves me with a distinctly uncomfortable feeling. Despite all the faith I have in Sir Alex Fergusons decisions, the thought of a youngster who cannot yet vote in an election or even legally have a drink in many countries, replacing a legend twice his age does not sit well.

Truly Reds does it’s best to bring you the latest news but there’s only so much that can be covered.
