No one can dare be critical of United 2011

Irrespective of whether Manchester United win, lose or draw at Wembley in a few hours time, I’m going to throw something at my television or computer if I hear another word about this being the worst Ferguson side to win a Premier League title. ITS JUST A MYTH – facts and figures prove it! Yes I know that statistics can prove whatever you want them to but PLEASE, how about using a little bit of common sense.  The 1998-99 Treble winning team has gone down in history as immortals and rightly so, yet a quick look at reality will give a different picture.

Hungarian to take charge of United and Barca

A Hungarian official who is younger than some of the Manchester United veterans has been awarded the honour of refereeing the European Champions League final against  Barcelona at Wembley. Viktor Kassai refereed the World Cup semi final between Spain and Germany and was in charge of United in the Champions League against Spanish opponents Valencia earlier this season. VDS bids farewell to Old Trafford against Blackpool

Unless he makes an unlikely reversal, Manchester United’s Edwin van der Sar will make his Old Trafford farewell on Sunday afternoon against a Blackpool side keen to ward off Premier League relegation. A win in front of the United faithful by the new champions will be a fitting home send off for the 40 year old goalkeeper with the decorated Holland international set to retire from football in summer. The veteran is then set to make his final United appearance at Wembley next Saturday against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League final.

van der Sar hints that ‘One More Year’ may be on

Without wishing to take anything for granted, the best news to come out of a disappointing weekend for Manchester United was a surprise comment made by goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar. The Dutch veteran has long stated a definite  intention to hang up his gloves at the end of the season yet he has now revealed that a possibility may still exist for him to carry on for another year. It may be a long shot but at least it provides a glimmer of hope that finding a replacement may not be as urgent a task as it appears to have been for Sir Alex Ferguson.
