Youth has once again been given its head under Sir Alex Ferguson and Tom Cleverley is one of those ‘kids’ who has figured in all of the Reds’ opening fixtures. Despite rave reviews, including comparisons to midfield greats of the past, he told Nick Coppack from United Review and ManUtd.com that he’s keeping his feet on the ground

There have been a number of Manchester City fans coming onto this site recently expressing the opinion that we are obsessed by their club because it has been mentioned in some of our articles. Sorry folks, if you expect any apologies they will not be forthcoming because just like the one which is being raised here, they have always had a Manchester United connection. It’s a two way street so when City manager Signor Mancini publicly comments on the Wayne Rooney incident at Wigan by saying that “For me it was Rooney’s fault and I’m surprised at this. The referee was there. I think that this happens in every country, it’s normal. The big club usually has different treatment. For me it was a red card” he’s perfectly entitled to express an opinion.

Nothing pisses me off in football more than hypocrisy! As Sir Alex Ferguson has a habit of saying “We can tick off another one” and after the 4-0 defeat of Wigan, he has only eleven more matches to scratch out. The victory, only United’s fourth away from home in the league this season, wasn’t straightforward as the scoreline suggests, but restores the Red’s four point lead at the top of the table. With United next in action on Tuesday evening at Stamford Bridge, he has a chance to stretch that lead to seven by the time title rivals Arsenal play again. And that gap could prove psychologically damaging to a Gunners side that haven’t won the league since 2004.

Just like everyone else, I’m feeling the nervous tension. An awkward trip to Wigan this weekend, were precious points must not be dropped, another tough one to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night to face the reigning champions followed by a visit to Anfield were Liverpool is certain to do everything in their power to try and stop Sir Alex Ferguson from completing his promise for Manchester United to ‘Knock them off their f*****g perch’ once and for all. Pressure? What pressure? But let’s face it, that’s what our club has thrived on for 20 years.
