Forlan will never forget those two strikes at Anfield

Ever since former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan was voted Golden Ball winner for best player at the 2010 World Cup there have been calls from many quarters for Sir Alex Ferguson to bring the Uruguay hit man back to Old Trafford. But the odds of it ever happening can only be described as highly remote at best. Ferguson simply does not sign players of his age unless he’s faced with exceptionally dire circumstances. Forlan nevertheless has fond memories of his time at Old Trafford – as manutd.com discovered when it had a chat with him prior to United’s recent 1-0 defeat of Valencia.

Players like Berbatov epitomise why United>England

Like many of the Old Trafford faithful, my loyalty and devotion to my club surpasses that for the England national team. The Portuguese coach was sacked as national team manager last week after he was banned for six months by Portugal’s anti doping authority. He was alleged to have insulted drug testers as they arrived at Portugal’s pre World Cup training camp ahead of their departure to South Africa.

In Defence of Michael Carrick

Much like Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Carrick is a player that seems to divide opinion amongst the United faithful. Ask many fans for their opinion of the midfielder, and the first response you will probably receive is “big-game bottler”, a reputation that was firmly cemented for Carrick following his performance against Barcelona in the 2009 Champions League final.

Such criticism is harsh though, any good United fan will tell you that things could have been different in that final were it not for the ridiculously cruel suspension of Darren Fletcher, who would have been able to press the Barcelona midfield and free Carrick up for more creative duties.
