With the greatest respect Boss, we my Celtic mates and I were having a few drinks and my words were a bit over zealous.
My knowledge of Mcleish is he walked out on Motherwell, with a poor win record % at Fir park.He went to Hibernian and won the Scottish 1st division Championship with them,note not! The Scottish EPL! He left Hibs high and dry to go to Glasgow Rangers, spent a bucket of money with them for relative success.
Was ultimately dismissed at Ibrox.Took over at the Scottish national side a team that Walter Smith had ressurected and set up their defensive FORMATION to compete.Failed to gain success to get to the World cup.Walked out on them .
I think his win percentage at Birmingham is as low as 40%.
Its not so much all the low win rates he has offered apart from the (Gers) its his style of play.Negative and stopping teams play rather than flair and excting football, not unlike the recently dismissed Sam Allardyce.
I hope you are wrong Boss, but its all good to speculate its part of the fun of being a supporter.
Apoligies if my post came across as cheeky, was not meant to be just the cheap Cider and enthusiasm.

OK Red Scot. You obviously know far more about McLeish than I do so you may be right. All I know is that I have been impressed by what he has done at Birmingham and seems to have plenty of support from Sir Alex. Don’t forget that Ferguson also had plenty of critics before he got the Old Trafford job and needed Sir Bobby Charlton to bat heavily for him. My opinion may be totally wrong but only time will tell

Sitting with about 5 Sellick mates!Not that they hate the useless fucker, he dropped the Scotland National team like a hot Tattie to vanish like a Shylock.
Loyalty lol The only person he is loyal to is himself.
Motherwell, Hibs, Teddy Bears, Scotland, zip.Agressive fast flowing sweeping attacking football, his trademark and all the thoughtfull ness of football as Walter Smith.Recognise a similarity?
Him for the next United manager, yeah makes total sense.

You may be right mate, Moyes could well be the right man for the job but here’s a long shot out of left field – Alex McLeish. He has only just turned 50 years of age and a little bit of Ferguson can be noted in his character.

Absolutely correct Tom. Barca replicated what Busby introduced at United 60 years ago, Ferguson resurrected that system and now we need someone to continue with that philosophy after Sir Alex goes. The truth is that it’s easier said than done.

I’m in favour of Mourinho taking over, but I am worried that he is looking like a modern day Bela Guttmann, a wondering nomad and winner of trophies in short-term periods rather than a builder of legacies and solid foundations. Barca haven’t achieved their recent success because they merely appointed a great manager in Pep Guardiola, it’s something they’ve been building since the days of the great Johann Cruyff. As Cruyff said in a recent interview on Revista De La Liga, a club needs to have a philosophy that is clear and that everyone is aware of, and then youngsters need to be trained, over numerous years, in the style of that philosophy. It’s easier for Barca though, they’ve got an entire region of Spain to themselves from which to snap up youngsters.

You have to factor that times are changing, but as a mark of respect I will not enter into the Mourinho argument when this event is to celebrate these two great Scottish legends. But please note that although the Mourinho philosophy is a different one to these two, there is no way (knowing Mourinho) why he wouldn’t/couldn’t build a dynasty a UTD!
