Just look at Chelsea after Mourinho left and he was only there a few seasons. Hell, just look at Utd a few seasons ago the fans were baying for Fergie's blood saying he was 'past it' after a few dodgy results. Fans and the board are far too fickle and Moyes is smart enough to let a couple of folk fail at the job before taking over and getting proper no-interference running of the club. Whether there's any truth to the rumours he's being lined up or not, he'd say the same thing, so (by your own logic) you can't take it as evidence of anything.
