Difficult visit to Wigan won’t be a picnic for United

A Wigan Athletic and Premier League debut facing Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 was tough enough but a club century appearance directly opposing Manchester United’s form player Nani three years later is no easier for Honduran defender Maynor Figueroa. In line to make his landmark mark for Wigan on Saturday, the 27 year old explained how his tough initiation into English football was one of the main factors in him reaching the unique milestone. Roy meets Fergie so Liverpool Nazis want his head

The heading on the Liverpool fans blog read - Have you seen this photo? (Another reason why he should be sacked ASAP). Was it Barack Obama having a beer with Osama bin Laden? According to manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the injury was not bad enough to rule him out of the Wigan game but is not prepared to risk aggravating the problem in Glasgow. United only needs a single point from their last two qualifying matches to ensure progress to the knock out stage.

Wigan swept aside as United go top with Chelsea

Despite all the drama and negativity surrounding Manchester United this season, the 2-0 defeat of nine men Wigan at Old Trafford saw them stretching their unbeaten run to 14 matches, join the champions at the top of the table and Wayne Rooney making his long awaited comeback! Not a bad 90 minutes work which was helped by both Arsenal and Chelsea going down to their fourth defeat. The only blot for United was that they did not end up with 4 or 5 as they could, and should have done.
