Carrick and Hargreaves to boost Manchester United squad

Carrick and Hargreaves to boost Manchester United squad

Manchester United squad will soon be boosted by the return of two important midfielders, Michael Carrick and Owen Hargreaves. The England duos are set to make their comebacks United Premiership game with West Bromwich Albion on 18th October. Carrick has missed the last six matches since breaking a bone in his foot against Liverpool a month ago.

The 27-year-old had only started one game before his Anfield sadness but manager Sir Alex Ferguson says he will almost surely be back on time to face the Baggies.

“We are expecting Michael to be available next week. He is almost back to full training now,” said the United boss.

Meanwhile, Owen’s frustrating long-term problem with knee tendonitis has improved.

He has fought the injury on and off ever since he arrived from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2007.

It struck him down again on the eve of the double winner’s pre-season tour of South Africa. Despite treatment and injections throughout last term, the problem returned during the close season and forced the 27-year-old to skip the tour.

His delayed return began with an appearance as sub against Liverpool and starts against Villarreal and Chelsea.

We hope the two players stay away from injuries.

Fergie blasts dirty Pogatetz

Sir Alex Ferguson launched a contemptuous attack on Emanuel Pogatetz after the Middlesbrough captain of his dirty tackle on Brazilian youngster Rodrigo Possebon. The 19-year-old Brazilian midfielder was taken to hospital. It was expected the Possebon has broken his leg, but United have confirmed that he has not broken his leg.

“It looked a really bad one. For the kid to make his first team debut and get an injury like that it was pretty horrendous,” said Fergie.

“For 10 minutes everyone was numb about it. The thing about these challenges it is always the case that the opponent claims his innocence.

“One of their bench is out screaming that it wasn’t a sending off and there was nothing wrong with the player.

“But at least they apologised. Gareth Southgate understood the gravity of it. He was very, very apologetic. But it was a terrible tackle.

“I have seen a video of it and you don’t want to see that again. We just hope it is not really, really serious, but it looks bad.”

Was the Ref decision correct?

Who will replace Nemanja Vidic against Chelsea

Manchester United manger’s Sir Alex Ferguson is having tough time to select who is going to replace Nemanja Vidic before Chelsea game this Sunday at Stamford Bridge. Vidic was sent off before the end of Liverpool game last Saturday and his position in central defence will be vacant.

During last season, Fergie has simple decision to shift Wes Brown to the center and let John O’shea or Hargreaves to fill the right side if Rio Ferdinand or Vidic were missing a game. But Villarreal game let Sir Alex Ferguson believes Jonny Evans is mature enough to play at top level.

“I have a decision to make on Sunday,” he said. “I need to work out whether I go with Evans’ ability but lack of experience or whether I opt for Wes’ experience and Gary at full-back.
“Gary was only playing his second competitive match last night but he did very well. Read the full story
