Barnsley manager Simon Davey is flattered when he was linked with one of the best jobs in football, to be Sir Alex Ferguson number two at Manchester United, after it is likely that Carlos Queiroz is going to leave Old Trafford for the Portugal job.
Queiroz is leaving the top of the European Champions and is going to replace Luiz Felipe Scolari, while the “Sunday Times” says Simon, is among the four coaches who are going to take the manager assistance job in the theater of dream .
Simon told the official Barnsley FC website: “It is flattering to be linked with a club of such stature but I have a job here. We must be doing something right if I am being linked with jobs like this.
“We still have a long way to go at Oakwell and we are all looking forward to the new season”.

Brian McClair, highly regarded by Ferguson for his work as the club’s academy director, is among those likely to be considered as a replacement, although United may also look at up-and-coming Championship managers, such as Barnsley’s Simon Davey, Simon Grayson of Blackpool and Swansea’s Roberto Martinez.
