Real Madrid are refusing to give up on their pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo, with club president Ramon Calderon determined to lure him to the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo’s future has been dominating the headlines all summer as the midfielder has continually refused to rule out a move away from Old Trafford.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Ronaldo off making a move to Madrid saying it would be a mistake and now Gill says United have told the Spanish side they have no plans to sell the skilful attacker.
He told Sky Sports News: “We made it clear to them [Real Madrid] from day one we wouldn’t welcome a bid, it wouldn’t be accepted and therefore I don’t think there is not much point in putting one in.
“That’s where we are at with the situation.
“Obviously there has been lots of paper talk and a lot of coverage in the media about it and we understand that.
“But the reality of it is we have been very firm from day one.”
