Most people were shocked yesterday when hearing that Luiz Felipe Scolari has been fired by Chelsea. Roman Abramovich could not wait more than 36 games to show Big Phil the exit door after only seven months at the Stamford Bridge.
Our manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, was surprised by this decision and blamed the modern day impatience and the press.
“It’s a shock so soon after taking the job seven months ago,” said Sir Alex.
“He is a man of great experience. He took Brazil to the World Cup and won it and was the obvious choice to replace Avram Grant in the summer.
“It is a sign of the times I am afraid. There is absolutely no patience in the world now. It seems to be more volatile now.
“You cannot always blame the Press but they play a part.
“There is sensationalism every time that someone has a bad result because the tabloids have to compete with the internet and TV news.
“We have all been subjected to that. You need time. You do not build a successful side overnight. Having lost the European Cup, there was an expectation that Chelsea were going to do well this year.”
Chelsea’s fans need now to wait for their new manager; we don’t care about him, and see how he can re-build the team. This means more difficulty for the blues to challenge Manchester and Liverpool for the title. Scolari exit can affect some players, especially the players Chelsea signed in the summer.
These problems can see the English Premier League having two horses race between Man United and Liverpool. At the moment, our team is doing well with a stable winning form which means it will be difficult for others to catch up; especially If Manchester records a victory in their postponed game against Fulham after three days.
Can United secure the league title very soon?
