With a fairly indifferent start to the season, defeat at Burnley, average performance against Arsenal and if it was not for Abou Diaby we would not have won. The big red machine rolled into North London and out again, telling all pretenders to our crown, that we are back!
We faced a Spurs side that is flying high, with Aaron Lennon in the form of his life, and the free scoring Defoe, there was an air of anxiousness coming from quiet a few red devil supporters. After 52 seconds, Defoe scoring just added to that feeling, then stepped forward Ryan Giggs, Evra, Anderson and Wayne Rooney.
Ryan Giggs turning back the clock to run the left wing like he was 25 once again.
Evra kept Lennon in his pocket for the whole game, plus his up and down the flanks was unstoppable at times.
Then you have got Anderson…son…son…who lets be honest, had one of the worst games I have ever seen any united player have against Burnley. But not this game, he was awesome controlling the midfield, strong, quick, no misplaced passes and to top it off, scored his 1st league goals for the reds!!
Then we come to the main man round what everything ticks. Mr. Wayne Rooney, he was unreal leading the line, never gave their defence a minutes peace and on another day would of had a hat trick, then when we was down to 10 men he was even better. Scholes getting dismissed for 2 yellow cards was very harsh, especially as Wilson Palacios had about 15 fouls in the first half alone!!
This now leads me to Dimitar Berbatov, once again the Bulgarian had at best an average game. I know Manchester united fans are divided about the Bulgarian International, but how long does a STRIKER that does not score many goals keep getting opportunities to wear the greatest club shirt in world football????
Is it because Sir Alex Ferguson is feeling he needs to justify spending £30 million on a player, who lets be honest hasn’t done a great deal…
when a striker does not score goals, he is assessed by what else he brings to the team so:
Does he score goals………not enough
Does he track back………..not enough
Does he create space and opportunities for other players to score……not enough
Does he mix it up and get stuck in…….not enough
We have arguably the most natural finisher this island has ever produced in Michael Owen, sitting week in week out, watching a £30 million Bulgarian Berba strolling about the pitch!!
How did you find Man United start and is it the time to give Owen a chance?
