Two assistants from Man United living legend’ Ryan Giggs saw the reds grapping another three points, this time against Stoke City at Britannia Stadium. Giggs came in the second half to help Dimitar Berbatov and John O’Shea to score two goals.
After Chelsea defeat in Wigan, Manchester United went on top by goal different for the first time this season with 18 points.
The first opportunity came after 8 minutes when Antonio Valencia was one-to-one with Stoke keeper Sorensen but the Ecuadorian international missed this easy chance as he chipped the ball wide.
All eyes were on Wayne Rooney to score his seventh league in the campaign, but Stoke defenders were aware of his threat as two players were chasing him once he received the ball.
The last dangerous chance in the first half came by Nani. He took two players from the left before his right footed shot blocked by Sorensen.
In the second half, Sir Alex Ferguson replaced Nani, who needs more to be called the new Cristiano Ronaldo, with Ryan Giggs who was man of the match against Man City last week.
It took only 8 minutes from Giggs to show how good he is for the team. Ryan made a run down the left wing and crossed low and directed to leave Dimitar Berbatov, who has not been involved in the game, with a simple tap-in.
15 minutes later, United won a free-kick from the right. Ryan Giggs crossed the ball to find John O’Shea who headed in to secure the three points and send United on top.
Sir Alex Ferguson should be aware from the weakness we have down the wings because Nani and Valenica couldn’t provide solutions for the strikers. Hopefully the due will do better next home game against Wolfsburg in the Champions League.
