Sir Alex Ferguson will try to add more depth to Manchester United squad this January as It is believed that the Scotsman is reopened talk with Valencia to sign Spain International striker David Villa.
Man United will also try to add another goalkeeper to the squad as they stair up their interest in CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev. Reports suggest that the Russian side will let United speak with the player on January once they meet his asking price of £10million.
David Villa will be a massive signing as I said many times before. He can score goals from inside and outside the box plus his ability to score from free kick. So paying his asking price of £35m will be good investment as Manchester United are looking to keep the Premier League trophy at Old Trafford and play in the UEFA Champions League final for the third year after 2008 and 2009. But the Reports also suggest that he will join Man United next summer.
On the other hand, Russia coach Guus Hiddink claims CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev is good enough to play in a big club like Manchester United even his height only 6ft 1in.
“From an early age, Igor has been the main goalkeeper at CSKA,” said the Russia boss. “He is ambitious enough to look beyond his own nose.
“In the future – perhaps the near future – for his career and personal growth, it would be nice for Akinfeev to move to one of Europe’s top clubs. For me it is obvious.
“I don’t want to make predictions, but he is ready to move now. Igor is a very smart, intelligent and responsible young man and – more importantly – extremely talented. In order to develop your talent, sometimes you need a new challenge.”
Will the two players join United?
