Although Wayne Rooney remains a doubt, Manchester United are ready to face Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield. Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs will return to Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad after recovering from knocks they picked against Bolton.
If Rooney can’t travel with the squad to Liverpool, Sir Alex Ferguson may stick to the formation he used against CSKA Moscow with pushing Evra and Giggs from the start. A surprise will be to see Michael Owen start against his former club, it would be the first time for Owen to start against a top four team. Owen said last week that he will score goals if the manager let him start games and Liverpool game can be the first example!
Rio Ferdinand, not in his top at the moment, thinks that the two clubs form isn’t an issue in such a derby games and warns his mates to concentrate and forget Liverpool previous results to grab the three points at Anfield.
“I think form goes out of the window in these games,” Ferdinand told MUTV ahead of Sunday’s game.
“We all know that when there’s a big rivalry between two teams, whether it’s a derby or a big cup clash, form doesn’t come into it.
“It all comes down to who performs best on the day and that’s what we’re looking to do.”
