One of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures of the season is Liverpool at Old Trafford for Manchester United supporters, and with Benitez’s side struggling another three points will be the key in order to keep up with the same momentum that has lifted Manchester United into the top position in the league, albeit with Chelsea having a game in hand.
Despite Liverpool’s relatively poor league position this season, they beat United 2-0 at Anfield earlier in the season with one goal coming from Torres. In that instance, Ferdinand was outpaced before Torres slotted the ball past Van Der Sar. Keeping the door closed for any repeats of that incident will be important for United’s defence, one that continues to improve week after week this season with the return of three core players in Van Der Sar, Vidic and Ferdinand.
It certainly won’t be an easy fixture, but with the form of certain individuals in recent weeks, particularly Park, Berbatov and Rooney, United should definitely be looking for all three points.
