Liverpool v Manchester United fixture has always been considered as one of the biggest match of the footballing calendar. For decades Liverpool and Manchester United have been the two most consistent big teams in England, and both of their trophy cabinets reflects this statement.
Thus throughout the years, this fixture has produced some of the most memorable games of the Premier League era. And the upcoming one looks destined to follow the tradition and provide another spectacular match.
At the start of the new season, both Liverpool and Manchester United were considered as two of the favorites to win the title. Both started their seasons accordingly and destroyed every team in their path. But in recent time Liverpool’s performance has dropped a lot. And the main reason behind it is their shaky defense. Among the top teams, their defense is the worst by a mile.
On the opposite side of the field, they have been creating a lot of chances, but they have lost a key element in the international break. That key element is their best player of last season Sadio Mané. As he has been sidelined for the next 3 months. That is a devastating blow for Liverpool because they have always struggled when Sadio Mané was not playing.
So someone in the Liverpool side needs to up their game if they intend to have any hope of defeating the Red Devils.
On the other hand, Manchester United have been able to maintain their great start of the season till now. And there seems to be no indication of them stopping anytime soon. The reason behind their great from is that they have great players in every part of their team.
So whenever a player is not up to mark, the rest of the team is able to help him out. Moreover Manchester United has a great bench. So, whenever something goes wrong there is always someone available to fix it.
The strong bench also allowed Manchester United to replace their injured players properly, unlike Liverpool. As though Man United is playing without some of their key players like Paul Pogba & Marcos Rojo, their loss isn’t felt a lot.
So in paper Man United seems like the front-runners to win the match. But in big games, no one can write off Liverpool.
